BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort was originally known as the Pioneer Tourist Park and was developed in 1973, over the next 20 years the park progressively fell into a sad state of disrepair and attracting very little tourist trade.

But a visit from the McKinnon family in August 1993 was to change all of that...after years of searching for just the right park they instantly fell in love and could see that this ugly duckling could be transformed into the magnificent frog (sorry swan) that it is today.

So, after 14 years of incredible enthusiasm, hard work and dedication we are immensely proud of what we have today...the multi award winning BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort... one of Queensland's leading resort style Caravan Parks with a 4.5 star rating.  

There are now 3 generations of McKinnons involved in the Park...Jan and Ron (Mum and Dad); Greg and Rod (their sons); Naomi (Greg's wife who actually met Greg in the camping ground of the Park 8 years ago!!) and their 3 bundles of joy (Jack, Josh and Molly).

The overall vision is for a Caravan Park which is a holiday destination in it's own right..one that provides an experience that is truly memorable ... fun, friendly, relaxed and welcoming with the very best standard of accommodation and facilities. And in this day of corporate ownership, we are a very rare breed of Park owners who still live on site, manage and work within the Park on a daily basis and this enables us to give our guests a truly unique holiday experience with that extra special personal touch...
