Double win for BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort at the Whitsunday Tourism Awards!

BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort has been awarded top honours in two categories at the annual Whitsunday Tourism Awards, held last night on Daydream Island. Winning gold in the Caravan and Holiday Parks category, the resort also won the prestigious Whitsunday Business of the Year at the gala industry awards.

The resort has been proudly owned by the McKinnon family for 26 years, and was last night represented by owner Jan McKinnon and staff.

“We are so very proud and grateful to have won both of these awards. Both the Caravan and Holiday Parks award and the Business of the Year award reflect the offerings of our product, our ongoing development and our customer service and is a testament to our team, so we couldn’t be any prouder. Our staff are very deserving of this award but we also couldn’t have done it without our loyal guests and fantastic industry partners. We extend a warm congratulations to all of the other Whitsunday winners and finalists from the evening,” said Jan.

Jan continued, “We have put everything into the resort over the past 26 years and continue to grow to make it the multi-award winning and nationally recognised destination to escape to with family and friends in the Whitsundays. Our resort is all about connecting with each other by offering an environment where everyone can enjoy the many facilities and activities on offer, relax in quality accommodation and just all come together.”

Over the years, the McKinnon family have been passionate about continually reinvesting into the business in order to offer the ultimate Whitsunday mainland holiday resort. Last year, two new Two Bedroom Premium Cottages and five new Three Bedroom Whitehaven Condos were constructed and an additional 34 new powered sites were added to the inventory, at a total cost of over $1.5 million. Another seven two bedroom luxury cabins with a touch of tropical surprise are being constructed over the next three months, increasing the number of cabins to 67, with plans to reach 80 in 2020.
