Whitsunday Reef Festival

Whitsunday Reef Festival

1st August – 4th August 2019

One of the Whitsundays’ most iconic events is from this day forward embarking on a new lease of life.

Now in its 19th year, the Whitsunday Reef Festival has officially come of age as the Great Barrier Reef Festival, in a rebrand that strengthens the ties to its world-famous namesake.

The region’s favourite festival is a delicious combination of family fun, all-night celebrations, local food and fashion and some of the biggest street parties in the north.

The spectacular Fireworks on the Foreshore kick off the festival complete with carnival rides, food stalls and night markets lining Airlie’s beautiful foreshore. Airlie’s Main Street is closed for the weekend to host two massive street parties featuring live entertainment, a vintage car show and reef themed parade.

Other events include reef art installations, Comedy Gala, Frocktails fashion show, family fun day, beach races, helicopter joy rides and cocktails at the “Pop-up” Beach Bar making Reef Festival a perfect time to enjoy the gorgeous Whitsunday winter.
