Purpose

BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort strives to protect the personal information of our stakeholders including our guests, employees, applicants for employment, contractors and potential contractors (Stakeholders). The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Act) governs the way we collect, use, disclose and store our Stakeholders’ personal information. This policy describes how we aim to adhere to the principles contained within the Act.  In this privacy policy, “we”, “us” and “our” means Janro Pty Ltd trading as BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort.

  1. What personal information do we collect and hold?

We provide tourist accommodation and associated services. We only collect personal information if it is necessary for our business purposes. Generally, all personal information is collected directly from you, or with your consent. However, depending on who the individual is, we may also collect their Personal Information from a responsible person or representative (parent/guardian). Credit Card details are only stored for the processing of payment and kept securly within your reservation.

We may collect Personal Information in various ways, including dealing with you in person, over the telephone, through the website at www.adventurewhitsunday.com.au (Website) or by email. Sometimes we may collect Personal Information from a third party but only if the individual has consented to such collection (eg: employment referees or third party booking websites), or from a publicly available source.

The Personal Information we collect about Stakeholders is only held and used for reasons directly related to our business and to allow us to perform the services Stakeholders expect from us. For example, we may use Personal Information of guests to process payments or Personal Information of employees to administer different aspects of the employment relationship.

Personal Information may be disclosed to external third parties in the circumstances described below. There may be other instances where Personal Information may be disclosed outside our business, however we will notify you where this is the case prior to collecting that Personal Information.

(a) Group companies and Licensor

Personal Information collected by us may be disclosed to associated entities (as that term is defined in the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)) as we see fit for the purposes of our business and as otherwise provided by law. Any associated entity will only use and disclose such Personal Information in the same manner that we may.

Personal Information collected by us is also disclosed to BIG4 Holiday Parks of Australia Pty Ltd the licensor for all BIG4 holidays parks to assist with bookings and administration.

(b)  Third party contractors

Personal Information collected by us may be disclosed to third parties to whom we contract out specialised services (such as IT service providers, lawyers, accountants and our reservation system provider NewBook Pty Ltd). If we do disclose Personal Information to third party contractors, we take steps to ensure that those contractors:

  • only have access to such Personal Information required by them to perform their functions;
  • comply with their obligations under applicable privacy laws; and
  • are authorised only to use Personal Information in order to provide the services required by us.
(c) Disclosures required or permitted by law

We may need to disclose Personal Information to law enforcement agencies, government agencies, courts, or other third parties where required or permitted by law.

(d) Other disclosures

Unless otherwise noted at the time we collect Personal Information, we do not sell, rent or trade Personal Information to or with third parties.

(e) Overseas disclosures

At this time, we do not disclose Personal Information to any recipients outside Australia.  If our practices change in this respect, we will update this policy accordingly.

We take reasonable steps to ensure the security of Personal Information held by us from such risks as loss or unauthorised access, destruction, use, modification or disclosure. Our IT systems are password protected and comply with our security standards, and if Personal Information is held on paper files, it is stored in locked cabinets on locked premises. We only permit your Personal Information to be accessed by authorised personnel.

Personal Information is retained for the period of time determined by applicable laws after which it is de-identified or disposed of in a secure manner.
