BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort Featured on Ecotourism Australia’s New Green Travel Guide

Green Travel Guide

BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort is now easier to find by those looking for sustainable travel experiences, thanks to Ecotourism Australia’s new Green Travel Guide, launched on the advent of World Environment Day, 5 June 2021.

A longstanding resource for environmentally-conscious travellers, the new iteration of the website – a searchable database of travel experiences and destinations certified by Ecotourism Australia’s internationally recognised certification programs – has been built as a Progressive Web App, which means it can be added to a mobile home screens and utilised offline.

It also boasts improved usability and search functionality as well as a host of new listing features like ‘book now’ buttons, social media links, images and reviews.

With research showing that over half of global travellers want to travel more sustainably in the future and the demand for high-quality, immersive nature-based travel experiences growing particularly in the wake of COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions, Ecotourism Australia CEO Rod Hillman says the launch of the new Green Travel Guide couldn’t have come at a better time.

“People are increasingly looking for experiences that bring them back to nature, that refresh them not just physically but also emotionally. The demand for sustainable, nature-based tourism is growing and at the same time people are becoming more savvy about the holiday decisions they make, wanting to have a positive impact on the places they visit.

“The new Green Travel Guide makes it easy for visitors to plan their holiday itineraries around ECO certified experiences – those that are backed by a strong, well-managed commitment to sustainable practices.”

With the ability to search for over 1,700 tours, accommodations and attractions certified through Ecotourism Australia’s ECO, Respecting our Culture (ROC) and Climate Action certification programs, as well as for destinations progressing through their certification journey, the new Green Travel Guide is a significant membership benefit for Ecotourism Australia’s 500 certified operators, whose listings in the guide are included as part of their annual membership fee.
