Keeping kids busy

School holidays can be a particularly trying time to keep the kids entertained and having fun. There’s nothing worse than cries of “Mum, I’m boooored!” on day one of the holidays. Here at IG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort we pride ourselves on our ability to keep the kids entertained.

Now, we’d like to share some of our favourite Pinterest pins with you. They’re full of fun kids activities to keep the little ones happy all day long. Here are three of our favourites:

Marshmallow Shooter aka Pom Pom Popper

This cheap and easy little device is our most popular pin, believe it or not!

All you need is:

– Some sturdy cups (or 2 to double them up)

– Regular sized balloons

– marshmallows or pom poms

– scissors

How to make a pom pom popper

Chop about one third off the bottom of the cup/s. Tie a knot in an uninflated balloon. Cut the tip off the balloon. Stretch the cut balloon over the lip edge of the cup/s. Place a pom pom or marshmallow in the centre of the balloon, near the knot, and draw the end of the balloon backwards.Launch your pompom at a target and see how far it can fly!

Couch Car Hot Wheels Racing Track

Stuck inside on a rainy day?

Get the kids to build a safe, non-marking, car racing track in the living room!

Using just some masking tape, you can create anew racing track every time they play, inspiring their creativity and imagination.

And using soft masking tape won’t wreck the furniture!

Paint Bag Writing Tablet

This is a fun little exercise for the younger ones, and new school students who are starting to learn to write.

Fill a plastic ziplock bag (tightly!) with paint. For added fun, you could add some glitter!

Give your little one an implement to write with – cotton bud works well, as does any blunt-tipped pencil-like object (chopstick, pick-up sticks, wooden peg).

To clear the bag easily, don’t tape it to the table. You’ll be able to pick it up and swish it around, then lay it flat again.
