Readers give the Frog Park the thumbs up!

Camping Queensland Australia Award WinnersReaders of Australian Traveller magazine have given BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday the ‘thumbs up’ as the best tourist park in Australia. Known affectionately as the “Frog Park’, this tropical oasis is located in Airlie Beach and is a well-known award-winning resort and almost a destination unto itself. The Whitsundays walked away with 4 awards with Queensland winning the most awards of any state.

The Readers’ Choice Awards are the only consumer awards for tourism in Australia. More than 1000 Australian Travellermagazine readers nominated their all-time favourite travel destinations and experiences throughout the country in a survey comprising twenty-two categories conducted by the magazine over the past four months. The bi-monthly magazine is the most authoritative, accessible and informative source for Australians committed to travelling and conducts the Reader’s Choice Awards on an annual basis.

Announced at a ‘who’s who’ of the travel industry night in Sydney on Tuesday 4 December, owner Greg McKinnon said, “It has been a fantastic year of recognition for us winning many awards including the Whitsunday and Queensland Tourism Awards. This Australia wide reader’s choice award really confirms from the end-user that we are delivering a wonderful product. We have continued to work hard to maintain our high standards and this award is recognition of that. We thank all our guests who made the effort to complete the survey. The awards also confirm the Whitsundays is really one of Australia’s best holiday destinations.”

The McKinnon’s believe the secret to their multi-award winning business includes providing superior customer service, maintaining a focus on the guest, paying attention to the little things and empowering their staff. The McKinnon family have owned the resort for over 19 years and they have received a total of 29 tourism-related awards in that time. The family remains totally committed and involved in the day to day management of the business.
