Whitsunday resort attempts just dance world record

Hundreds of kids and their parents danced under the stars at BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday on Saturday night in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record. The record attempt was to have the most people dancing outside together to Wii Just Dance. Over 200 people officially registered with many more spectators enjoying the event.

Naomi McKinnon, owner of the Whitsunday resort said, “the atmosphere was absolutely wonderful and the kids just loved dancing to their favourite tunes. It’s actually amazing what strong opinions they had on which songs they liked and didn’t like. The pressure on the DJ was enormous!”  After the main record attempt everyone kept dancing until about 8.30pm as it was a beautiful balmy Whitsunday evening.

The annual charity weekend, Camp and Care with BIG4, was a huge success and the weekend saw non-stop activities for children. Many locals use it as an opportunity to get families together with 67 local families and another 46 families from the Mackay region staying for the weekend. There were over 673 people in the park on Friday night.

Over the weekend 185 pancakes were made, 288 slices of pizza eaten, 200 glow sticks worn at the dance party and 18 boxes of slime used for the muck-up fun!Naomi said, “The good news is that while we had a fantastic weekend we also raised in excess of $2500 for the Logan Wells Foundation”.

BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday will have to wait to hear whether their Guinness Record attempt was successful. Even if it’s not an official record, it was so much fun it’s bound to be repeated many times over the next school holidays.
